The 16 beer taps are dominated by a nice variety of California craft beers, mostly from the wine country regions. In addition, they feature a full service bar and a thoughtful wine list.

The outdoor beer garden is especially lovely when the flowers are blooming. Next to this is a small performance hall where bands are regularly featured on weekends.
A beer beachhead in Sebastopol
This little tavern has great heritage — it is owned by Dean Biersch, who is also the Biersch in the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company in San Jose. Combining great beer and food, Hopmonk Tavern is definitely among the best craft beer stops in Sonoma County.
The tavern features three of its own Hopmonk brews among the 16 draught taps. The rest of the taps are mostly other California craft beers, including some of the very best. Additionally, you will find one or two beers on cask from local area brewers. There are also approximately 80 bottled beers selections, mostly California micros and better imports.
Hopmonk has a fun, friendly and relaxed atmosphere with a cool, comfortable beer garden out back. It also hosts some of the best beer & food pairing events in the region. Their monthly Beer Dinner is definitely worth looking for.

Hopmonk's Own Brews
Kellerbier (abv 5.3%) A hazy yellow beer with crisp, spicy hops and a fairly light pilsner-style taste. A superb warm-weather beer.
Tavern Ale (5.6%) A very approachable California-style pale ale. Easy to drink, but not lacking hops and malt. Very food friendly.
Dunkelweizen (5.2%) Really nice. Rich and spicy with great mouthfeel. Everything you could want in a dark Bavarian-style wheat beer.
Many other beers are available in 22 oz. bottles, that are great for sharing. Ask to see their extensive beer menu.
Restaurant
The decor features lots of warm rich wood that lends a cozy atmosphere. It is a very friendly place and the staff are professional and efficient. Kudos go to manager Bill DeCarli and his team.
You will find a menu well-balanced among appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees. The Portabella sandwich is very tasty. The Mussels and Garlic Fries are very popular. Look for the Stout Creme Brulee dessert.
Behind the indoor restaurant is a wonderful deck and outdoor beer garden that expands the dining experience during good weather.
Driving Directions - Hopmonk Tavern is actually located just to the left of and just slightly below the map indicator. The building and its parking lot form a triangle shape, with its entrance directly across from Abbott Ave.
If driving in from Santa Rosa, you come in on Sebastapol Ave. (Hwy. 12). Since you cannot turn left (south) on Petaluma Av. because it is one way, you have to loop around the streets to get to the Hopmonk parking lot. It is best to continue on to S. Main St.and turn left, then take a left on Fannen Ave. and then left on Petaluma.

The beer board clearly displays what’s “fresh on draft.”
